Later on in 1887, she was determined to continue getting a Master’s degree in Science. In 1877, she enrolled in the University of Wisconsin and in 1882, she completed a Bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Letters and Science. Since both of her parents were teachers and supporters of women’s rights, she was encouraged to pursue education at a very young age. One interesting fact is that one year after her father was employed, the university began accepting women. ![]() Her mother, Emma Curtiss Bascom was a women’s rights activist involving in the suffrage movement.
